Pickling solution for austenitic stainless steel (AISI 300 series) for spray systems.
The ECOINOX BA is a pickling solution specially formulated for BA austenitic steel which allows for the removal of oxides produced during welding with virtually no loss of the original shine of the material. It is a highly effective product which can be used in spray systems to remove surface oxides caused by welding and which does not contain hydroflouric acid or hydrochloric acid.
Instructions for use
ECOINOX BA is ready to use. Chemical treatments are not usually effective unless any exisiting oil and grease is removed beforehand. It is a good idea to pretreat the surfaces with a degreasing solution as an effective elimination of oil and grease is essential to obtain a good result.
The ECOINOX BA pickling solution works best at room temperature but can also be used in temperatures up to 45° C.
The time required to remove the surface oxide depends on the type of scale to be removed, how thick it is and its adherence to the underlying metal.
For standard treatment: - treat when hot for 30 to 90 minutes
It is advisable to always perform a sample test.
Once the pieces have been pickled, they should be thoroughly washed using a high-pressure washer. A final wash with demineralized water ensures an optimal result.
Checking the bath
It is good practice to regularly check the pickling bath to ensure that the pickling elements do not fall below acceptable levels.
The temperature has a notable influence on the speed of the pickling process, therefore in order to ensure constant results, it is a good idea to increase the bath concentration when the temperature falls below 20° C.
Similarly, it may be necessary to add further fresh product when, following long periods of operation, the quantity of dissolved oxides is excessive.
It should be remembered that for quantities of Iron of around 40 - 50 gr/l it is necessary to purge the bath of approximately 1/8 of its volume and replace it with the exact same quantity of fresh solution.
An insoluble pickling sludge will gradually build up on the bottom of the bath up to the point that it will inevitably have to be removed and the vat will have to be washed and refilled with fresh solution.
Precautions for use
Use suitable personal protective equipment and follow the instructions on the safety data sheet.
Wash waters are slightly acidic and therefore cannot be drained directly but must instead be neutralized and decanted.
It should also be remembered that industrial waste water can only be discharged upon authorization of the relevant authorities and Delmet can supply products and manual or automatic equipment for this type of treatment.
